Obituary

Ralls (Special)- Luther Doyle Whitehead, 70, longtime Ralls farmer, died at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Ralls Convalescent Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Ralls First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Carter Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. C.M. Fields, of Claremore, Okla., a former pastor of the Baptist Church here. Assisting will be the Rev. H.B. Coggin, pastor of the First Methodist Church here and the Rev. E.R. McGregor, a methodist minister.

Born in Comanche County, Whitehead came to Ralls in 1933 from Comanche. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Alta Mae; a son J.H.(Cotton) of Ralls; two daughters, Mrs Wanda Gay King and Mrs. Jo Ann Kattan, both of Ralls; three brothers, C.L. of Silverton, Leroy of Wichita Falls and L.E. of Ropesville; a sister Mrs. Opal Stephens of Bangs; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Clinton McReynolds, Roy Harrell, Earl Moses, I.B. Davis, J.W. Payne and J.H. Munmoore.

RALLS (Special) - Services for Alta Mae Whitehead, 94, of Ralls will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ralls First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Morrow, pastor, and the Rev. Les Griffin, pastor of Crosbyton First Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.

She died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1997, at Crosbyton Care Center.

She was born Oct. 12, 1902, in Myrtle, Miss. She married L.D. Whitehead on Feb. 6, 1921, in Hasse. He died Oct. 3, 1968. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ralls. She moved to Comanche in 1934.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, J.H. "Cotton" of Ralls; two daughters, Wanda Gay King of Lubbock and JoAnn Kattan of Harlingen; a sister, Gladys King of Comanche; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Crosbyton Care Center Service Club.
