U.S.Flag Services for Johnny Leonard Watson, 69, of Lorenzo were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug 23, 1998, in Lorenzo First Baptist Church with Charles Hankson officiating. Dennis Williams, pastor of the church, assisted..

 Burial was in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.

Watson died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, in Lubbock's Methodist Hospital.

He was born Aug. 13, 1929, in Thornton. He married Charlene Bouldin on Dec. 31, 1949, in Lorenzo.

He graduated from Thornton High School and attended Sam Houston College. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, chariman, Sunday School superintendent, president of the Senior Choir and treasurer. He served on the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Board.

He served two terms on the Lorenzo City Council, and he was the Lorenzo Parade marshal in 1997. He was a member of the Lorenzo Lions Club and a former member of the Lorenzo Masonic Lodge.

He was head custodian for Lorenzo High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked for Lorenzo State Bank for 15 years.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Johnny Ray of Austin; a brother, Chester Foster of Lovington, NM; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
