When Houston Waldie was born on June 20, 1908, in Grandview, Texas, his father, Richard Lambert Waldie, was 48 and his mother, Martha Kate Hunton, was 39. He had six brothers and five sisters. He died in July 1987 in Ralls, Texas, at the age of 79.
RALLS (Special) Services for Houston Waldie, 79, of Ralls are pending with Carter-Adams Funeral Home.
He died at 10 p.m. Sunday at his residence. Justice of the Peace Jim S. Travis ruled death from natural causes.
He was born in Grandview and moved to the Ralls area in 1930. He married Juanita Howard on Jan. 19, 1934, in Crosbyton. He served on the fire department from 1941 until 1963. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 25 years. He worked for Abell-Prewitt Implement Company. He was a member of Christian Science Church in Lubbock.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Neil of Hammmonton, NJ, Don of Ore City and Gary of Plainview; two brothers, Richard of Georgetown and Callie of Itasca; two sisters, Florence Stephenson of Tucumcari, NM, and Laura Howell of Houston; 10 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Services for Juanita Waldie of Lubbock were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, 1995, in the W. W. Rix Chapel with Danny Doak, preacher of First Church of Christ, Scientist, officiating.
Burial followed in Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.
Waldie died Saturday, May 27, 1995, at her residence.
She was born in Long Grove, OK, and married Houston Waldie on Jan. 20, 1933. He died in July 1987. She was a resident of Ralls most of her life before moving to Lubbock in 1992. She taught Sunday school for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Waldie of Plainview and Don Waldie of Longview; two brothers, Lemuel Baker of New Deal and Ray Howard of California; three sisters, Beatrice Carr of Lubbock and Lorena Fox and Stella Mae Ross, both of Dallas; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
