Mrs. Ada Travis Dies After Long Period Of Illness
Mrs. Ada Travis, age 68, pioneer resident of Ralls and Crosby county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G.C. Pass, on last Wednesday morning at one o'clock, following an illness of more than three months, during which time her health had been failing gradually.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday afternoon at the Church of Christ, of which congregation she had been a member for many years, with Rev. Walter P. Jennings, pastor of the First Christian Church of Lubbock officiating.
Mrs. Travis was survived by her two daughters, Mrs. G.C. Pass, of this city, and Mrs. John B. Pruden, of Fort Worth, three sisters, Mrs. Mandy Reed of Ralls, Mrs. Laura Anderson, Clovis, New Mexico, and Mrs. W.P. Lamar, Phoenix, Arizona, and numerous other relatives of this city and Crosby county.
Although Mrs. Travis had only lived in Ralls for the past seventeen years she was a frequent visitor among the early settlers of Crosby county having married the brother of R.L., R.R., and Chas. Travis, and Mrs. Will Richards. Her husband died some forty years ago.
The deceased was laid to rest in the Ralls cemetery with six of her own nephews: Travis Richards, Clyde, C.B., Oliver and Bolton Travis, and Jeff Reed, acting as pallbearers.
Since living in Ralls Mrs. Travis had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. G.C. Pass.
Practically all of the stores and business houses of this city were closed during the funeral service.
