Earl Tinnin dies Monday; Services Held Yesterday

Earl Tinnin Services for Mayor Earl Tinnin, 56, who died Monday morning in a Lubbock hospital, where held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Ralls First Methodist Church.

Mr. Conrad Ryan, pastor of the Ralls First Methodist Church, and Mr. W.R. Beaird, retired Methodist minister, officiated.

Masonic graveside rites were held at Ralls Cemetery. Arrangements were under direction of Carter Funeral home.

Tinnin, a Ralls resident since 1926, had been a partner in the Lynch-Tinnin Department Store since 1945.

A former city council member, he was past president of the Ralls Rotary Club, past master of Emma Lodge No. 931, a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the El Paso Consistory No. 3, and past patron of the Ralls Chapter of Eastern Star No. 169.

Active in scouting work, Tinnin had served as pack committeeman, cubmaster, institutional representative, explorer advisor and as district chairman and South Plains Council executive board member.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church, active in the choir and served on the board of stewards.

He is survived by his wife, Lenora, one son, Sidney Earl, Midland; three grandchildren; three brothers, Henry and Bill, both of Ralls, and Dale, Hereford; two sisters, Mrs. T.S. Parks, Cleburne, and Mrs. Emmitt Lynch, Ralls, his mother, Mrs. Demmie Tinnin, also of Ralls.

Pallbearers were J.S. Dennard, Jack Pearson, Tim Lyle, W.P. McKee, Jack Robertson, Al Cooper, John W. Thomas, M.A. McLaughlin, Claude Adams, all of Ralls, and Waggoner Carr, Lubbock.
