Jimmie W. Thornton of Ralls, a Crosby County resident for 62 years, was buried in Ralls Cemetery following 2 p.m. Saturday memorial services in the First Baptist Church of Ralls. The Rev. Lee Fuller and the Rev. Loy Hardesty officiated.
Mr. Thornton was 70.
Carter-Adams Funeral Home of Ralls directed arrangements.
Mr. Thornton was claimed by death at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Methodist Hospital, Lubbock, following a lengthy illness.
The longtime Ralls area farmer was a native of Ennis. He moved to Ralls in 1923.
The former Ila Mae Crump and Mr. Thornton were married Feb. 20, 1938. She died April 10, 1952.
He married Nora McGee on Feb. 12, 1953, in Ralls.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Charles Thornton of Caprock; two sisters, Alta Bell Nichols and Mertie Nichols, both of Bloomfield, NM; and three grandchildren.
