Opal Thomas

RALLS (Special) - Services for Opal Thomas, 87, of Childress will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Ron Colwell, pastor, and Steve White, pastor of First Baptist Church in Estelline, officiating.

Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thomas died at 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 1993, in Childress Nursing Center.

She was born on June 26, 1906, in Limestone County. She married O.C. Thomas on July 3, 1935, in Austin. He died on Sept. 30, 1989. She graduated from the University of Texas in Austin. She was a Girl Scout leader and a member of the Ralls United Methodist Church, Ralls Study Club and the Crosby County Library Board. She taught Sunday School at the church and was named Outstanding Citizen Through the Years in 1976 by the Ralls Chamber of Commerce. She moved to Childress from Ralls in 1992.

Survivors include a son, Jim of Houston; a daughter, Francene Ferrel of Estelline; a brother, Dr. Edward D. Thomas of Seattle, Wash.; and four grandchildren.
