David Terrell photoMemorial services for David Lee Terrell, 48, of Lubbock will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Trinity Church with the Rev. Bob Winkler, pastor, and the Rev. Mike Beals, pastor of Mission Hills Christian Church in Mission Viejo, Calif., officiating.

Interment will be made in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Mr. Terrell died Monday, Aug. 18, 1997, in a single engine airplane crash near Albany.

He was born Aug. 9, 1949, in Weatherford, TX. . He married Vicki Mayes on Feb. 4, 1967, in Ralls. He graduated from Ralls High School, and he received a degree in business management from Texas Tech University. He moved to Lubbock from Mission Viejo, Calif., in June 1994. He was a member of Trinity Church in Lubbock, where he served on the finance board.

He was a former member of Mission Hills Christian Church and the school board in Mission Viejo. He was president and CEO of Valley Resource Inc., Mid-Texas Petroleum, Triple T Well Service and Hoi-Polli's LLC. He was the founder and co-owner of Kelley Fudge Co. and several other small businesses. He had offices in Lubbock and Abilene. He had formerly worked for Procter and Gamble and Duracell Battery Co.

A brother, Dick LorenTerrell preceded him in death July 12, 1970, at the age of 29.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki Terrell of Lubbock; one son, Timothy Lee of Lubbock; two daughters, Trae Diede of Bozeman, Mont., and Trinity Terrell of Lubbock; his parents, R.B. and Nellie Ruth Terrell of Lubbock; a sister, Jackie Stultz of Abilene; his grandmother, Bessie Cogburn of Lubbock; and three grandchildren, Chase Terrell, Jack Terrell, and Zoe Terrell all of Lubbock..

The family suggests memorials to the Mission Hills Christian Center and School in care of Mike Beals.

When David Lee Terrell was born on August 9, 1949, in Weatherford, Texas, his father, Roy Burton Terrell, was 31 and his mother, Nellie Ruth Cogburn Terrell, was 28. He married Vicki Lynn Mayes Terrell Burdine on February 4, 1967, in Ralls, Texas when he was 17 years old. They had three children during their marriage. He died on August 18, 1997, in Shackelford County, Texas, at the age of 48. Vicki Lynn Mayes Terrell Burdine was born on November 11, 1948, in Lamesa, Texas, the child of William (Bill) H. Mayes and Jean. She married David Lee Terrell on February 4, 1967, in Ralls, Texas. They had three children during their marriage. She died on March 12, 2001, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 52, and was buried in Ralls, Texas.
