John Tarleton

RALLS (Special) - Services for John Tarleton, 86, of Ralls will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Ralls First Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Morrow, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home.

He died at 6:45 p.m. Monday in Lubbock's St. Mary's Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Denton and moved to Ralls in 1926. He married Lena Houston on Sept. 13, 1924, in Denton. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He worked for Southwestern Public Service from 1939 to 1947, was co-owner of Ralls Ice Plant from 1947 to 1962 and worked for the Ralls public school system until 1972, when he retired.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Houston of Lubbock; a daughter, Joy Herring of Hobbs, NM; a sister, Maude Jackson of Celina; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
