Biography

James Sidney Smyer, son of Robert Albert "Bob" Smyer and Elizabeth Mahala Setzer, was born March 15, 1858 in Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina, and died February 11, 1941 in Old Emma, Crosby County, Texas. He married Dovie Isabell Whitener June 13, 1880 in Whitener, Madison County, Arkansas, daughter of William Whitener and Anna Haun. She was born May 27, 1863 in Newton Catawba County, North Carolina, and died August 28, 1945 in Ralls, Crosby County, Texas and was buried in the Ralls Cemetery August 30, 1945.
