Roy Alton Shoemaker, 96, of Ralls passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016 in Crosbyton. Roy was born March 1, 1920 in Dunn, Texas to James (Jim) and Mary Alice (Griffin) Shoemaker. Roy had farmed for many years in this area, but most of his life was spent employed as a journeyman electrician. Roy worked at Los Alamos when it was a closed city, and was fortunate to have had the opportunity to work on the project for the first atomic submarine, the Atlas Missile Project and the Gnome Missile Project in Carlsbad, NM. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 602 and was a Master Mason for over 65 years.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; three brothers; a grandson, Tommy Alton Crow; and a great-grandson, Corey Kelton.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two daughters; Dolores Harvey of Muleshoe, TX; Aloma Crow and husband Tom of Carlsbad, NM; his sister; Alice �Bee� Wilson of Escondido, CA; brother-in-law Bill Crane of Wylie, TX; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 2 pm Monday, September 26th, at the Ralls Cemetery Chapel. Arrangements are under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.Obituary courtesy of: Adams Funeral Home
