Services for Rose Shoemaker, 67, of Ralls were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 1990 in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Morrow, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home.

She died at 1:40 p.m. Sunday, December 31, 1989 in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Crosby County and lived there all her life. She married Sam Shoemaker on Jan. 27, 1948, in Ralls. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She is preceded in death by one brother, Robert Wilson.

Survivors include her husband, Sam Shoemaker of Ralls; 2 daughters, Carla Hensley of O'Donnell and Pam Bownds of Brownfield; 2 brothers, Wayne Wilson of Ralls and John T. Wilson of Clovis, NM; 3 sisters, Jimmie Tucker of Ralls; Mildred Buchanan of Coahoma, TX, and Mary Evelyn Draper of Spur; 4 granddaughters, Mendy Beth Hensley, Laura Hensley, Samantha Bownds, and Karlinda Bownds.

Services for Sammie Floyd Shoemaker, 92, of Ralls will be at 10:00 am Monday, July 19, 2010 at the Ralls Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Floyd Haddock officiating. Burial will be in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Visitation will be from 4-5 PM Sunday at Adams Funeral Home. Sam passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at his home in Ralls. He was born on November 19, 1917 in Dunn, Texas to the late James A. and Mary Alice (Griffin) Shoemaker. On January 27, 1948 he married Rose Wilson in Ralls. She preceded him in death on December 31, 1989. Sam moved to Ralls in 1925 and served in the US Army during WWII He was a member of the VFW and the Crosby County Co-Op.

Sam is also preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Shoemaker and David Shoemaker; and four sisters, Jimmie Richardson, Elsie Brown, Kittie Lee Beck and Joann Crane.

Survivors include, two daughters, Carla Hensley and her husband Kenny of O'Donnell and Pam Bownds of Alvin; a brother, Roy Shoemaker of Ralls; two sisters, Mary Hale of Ralls and Alice Maria Wilson of Escondido, CA; six grandchildren, Mendy Briley (Brian), Samantha Hunt (Rob), Laura Huchzermeyer (Erick), Karlinda Buchan (Willy) , Candace Beacom (Terry) and Connie Bownds and six great grandchildren. Serving as casket bearers will be kenny Hensley, Brian Briley, Rob Hunt, Rick Tucker, Tim Logsdon, Ray David Shoemaker and Ralph Shoemaker. Serving as honorary casket bearers will be Sammie Bownds and Eldon Nipp.

The family suggests memorials to the Kairos Prison Ministries c/o Mike Jones, P. O. Box 116, Welch, Texas 79377.
