In Remembrance of

R. J. Sanders

R.J. SandersU.S.Flag   R.J. Sanders was born Feb. 26, 1924 in Atlus, Texas to John and Virgie Sanders. After moving to Ralls in 1942, he was drafted by the US Army for military service in World War II. After his discharge, he returned to Ralls where he married Wanda Joyce Langdon on Sept. 2, 1947. They moved to Whiteface where he owned and operated a welding and blacksmith shop. He loved to build grain elevators, farming equipment, horse/hay barns, and oil company projects. He was a member of the Whiteface and Morton, Church of the Harvest Assemblies of God. He served as song leader, Sunday school teacher and a deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Billy.

He is survived by Wanda Joyce, his wife; two sons, Wesley and Doris of Waller, and Dean and Vicki Sanders of Turnertown; three daughters, DaLoma and Don Horne of Red Oak, Donna and Randall Tanner of Lubbock, and Robbie Hembree of Lubbock; one brother, Joe Ed Sanders, and one sister, Jaquetta Gillim, both of Lubbock; 12 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services to celebrate his life will be held Tuesday at First Assembly of God in Lubbock at 2 p.m. with burial to follow at Ralls cemetery. A gathering to remember his legacy with family and friends is scheduled from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers in Lubbock. R. J. died Saturday, April 26, 2008.
