Biography

Homer Sanders parents were James Calvin Sanders born Feb,25 1872 in Middle TN. died Oct. 22,1926 in Aubrey TX. His Mom was Annie Elizabeth Rea. Fondly known as Lizzie. Born Aug. 31, 1877 and died Jan. 3, 1976 in Denton Co. She was 99 at her death. James and Lizzie were married July 7,1897.

Opal Sanders's Mom was Maggie Grace Carter Born June 6,1889 died in Ralls May 6, 1975. Opal's Dad was Robert McDaniel Ford Born March 27, 1885 Died in Ralls 6-28-1958. Robert and Maggie were married 7-9-1906.

Obituary

Opal Sanders
Services for Opal Loraine Sanders, 83, of Ralls, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 1996, in the Ralls First Baptist Church with Rev. Floyd Haddock of Shamrock officiating. Burial followed in Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sanders died at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1996, at Lubbock Hospitality House. She was born Aug. 19, 1913, in Denton County, TX, and married Homer C. Sanders in 1929 in Denton, TX.

He preceded her in death June 3, 1956. She moved to the Ralls area in 1937 from Denton County. She was a member of the Ralls First Baptist Church, and she was employed by the Ralls Independent School District in the school lunchroom until retiring in 1970.

She also worked for the Green Thumb program and drove the Senior Citizens bus for several years.

Survivors include four sons, Wendell and Carl Sanders, both of Lubbock, Bobby Sanders of Denton, and Lynn Sanders of Haskell; four daughters, Lula Mae Renshaw of Venice, FL, Linda Beshirs of Haskell, Rita Fudge of Lubbock and Tressa Donathan of Midland; one sister, Stella Stone of Dallas; 25 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, ad one great great grandchild.

Grandsons were pallbearers.
