RALLS (Special) - Services for Joel J. Sanders, 69, of Ralls, will be at 2 p.m. today in Assembly of God Church in Ralls with the Rev. G.A. Van Hoose, pastor, and the Rev. Vance Mitchell of Crosbyton officiating.

Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Carter Funeral Home.

Born in Mississippi, Sanders had been a resident of Ralls since 1935. He died at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Crosbyton Clinic Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Sanders worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 10 years and then for the City of Ralls until his retirement in 1966. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Ralls.

He married the former Willie Williams at Lamar County June 2, 1926.

Survivors include his wife; his daughter, Mrs. Si Swindall of Crosbyton; his two sons, James H. Sanders of Mesquite and Wayne Lee Sanders of Ralls; four sisters, Mrs. Alice English and Mrs. Alma Turner, both of Sulphur Springs, Mrs. Lillie Garner of Ralls and Mrs. Elsie Bennett of Dallas; and seven grandchildren.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Willie SandersServices for Willie Sanders, 96, of Ralls were at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 23, 2004 at the Ralls Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Vance Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

She died Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at Ralls Nursing Home.

She was born June 23, 1907 in Lamar County, Texas to A.B. and Mattie Williams. She married Joel James Sanders on June 2, 1926 in Blossom, Texas. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1974.

She was the last charter member of the Ralls Assembly of God Church that was founded in 1943. She had worked as a senior citizens referral for SPAG and had also worked at the Ralls Nursing Home when it was new. She moved to the Ralls area in 1935 from Lamar County.

Survivors include two sons: James Sanders and his wife Ann of Mesquite, Wayne Lee Sanders and his wife Betty of Lubbock, a daughter, Ruby Swindall and her husband Si of Crosbyton, seven grandchildren: Melissa, Lori, Kristi, Dana, Scot, Susan and Stuart and 8 great grandchildren.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.
