Rosary for Maria Gonzales Salazar, 77, of Ralls was held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 1998, at the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Ralls with Rev. Glenn Rosendale, pastor, officiating.

Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, January 12, 1998, in the same church with the same officiant.

Burial followed in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Mrs. Salazar died at 7:25 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, in Lubbock's St. Mary Hospital following an illness.

She was born May 4, 1920, in Los Lidios, Mexico and married Anastacio Salazar on July 29, 1938, in Brownsville, TX. He preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 1933. Also preceding her in death are two daughters, Guadalupe Uribe and Maria Casarez. She moved to Silverton from Brownsville in 1955 then to Ralls in 1963. She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Survivors include four sons, Anastacio Salazar, Jr., of Carson City, NV, Johnny Salazar of Lorenzo, and Hilario Salazar and Pablo Salazar both of Ralls; seven daughters, Isabel Campos, Norma Salazar, Margarita Martinez, and Concepcion Rodriguez all of Ralls, Francis Cantu of Tahoka, Santos Salazar of Mercedes, and Nora Landlin of Lubbock; two brothers, Genaro Gonzales of Napoleon, OH, and Francisco Gonzales of Brownsville; 48 grandchildren; and 50 great-grandchildren.
