  • Herschel Roye

    RALLS (Special) - Services for Herschel Roye, 77, of Ralls were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 27, 1997, at the Ralls First Baptist Church with the Rev. Floyd Haddock, a retired Baptist minister, officiating, assisted by Rev. Jim Morrow, pastor of the Ralls First Baptist Church.

    Burial followed in the Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

    Mr. Roye died at 4:22 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 1997, in Lubbock's Methodist Hospital following a sudden illness.

    He was born Feb. 10, 1920, in Coryell County. He married Florence Martin on Jan. 25, 1941, in Crosbyton. She preceded him in death Jan. 31, 1976. He moved to Crosby County from Post in 1935. He was a member of Ralls First Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for 24 years. He was a member of the Emma Masonic Lodge 931, Ralls Senior Citizens, Ralls Cemetery Board, where he was president, the Ralls Cooperative Gin Board and Crosby County Fuel Association Board. He was named Citizen Through the Years in 1984 by the Ralls Chamber of Commerce.

    Survivors include three sons, Dwight and Norman, both of Ralls and Bobby of Jenks, Okla.; two brothers, Vernon of Ralls and Conway of Las Cruces, N.M.; and six grandchildren.

    The family suggests memorials to Ralls Senior Citizens or to Ralls Ambulance Service.

  • RALLS (Special) Services for Florence "Juggers" Roye, 51, of Ralls will be at 3 p.m. today in Ralls First Baptist Church with the Rev. Floyd Haddock, pastor, and the Rev. James Abernathy, associate pastor of Crescent Park Baptist Church in Odessa, officiating.

    Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Carter Funreal Home.

    Mrs. Roye died about 1:30 a.m. Saturday in Methodist Hospital in Lubbock following a brief illness.

    Born in Bosque County, she lived most of her life in Crosby County. She was married to Herschel Roye on Jan. 25, 1941, in Crosbyton.

    An active member of Ralls First Baptist Church, she was Sunday school department superintendent about 18 years. She was a member of the Ralls of the Ralls Order of Eastern Star Chapter 169.

    Survivors include her husband; her mother, Mrs. Nora Martin of Cone; three sons, Dwight and Norman of Ralls and Bobby of Lubbock; two brothers, Elvis Martin of Ralls and R.L. Martin Jr. of Cone; a sister, Mrs. Weems Jones of Los Alamos, NM, and two grandsons.
