Services for Salvador "Silas" Rivera, Sr., 58, of Mora, NM, were held at 11 a.m., Wed. Nov. 28, 2001, at St. Micheal´s Catholic Church in Ralls with the Rev. Leonardo Pahamtang officiating.

Rosary was said at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at St. Micheal´s Catholic Church.

Burial was in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

He died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Northeastern Regional Hospital in Las Vegas, NM.

He was born Sept. 27, 1943, in Aspermont, TX.

He married Marcella Segura in April 1965 in Lubbock.

He was a welder and a cowboy, and was involved in the past with motorcross racing and coached both Little League baseball and golden gloves boxing. He was also a header in Team Roping. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He moved to Mora, NM, in 1999. He was a former resident of Las Vegas, NM, Portales, NM, and Lubbock.

Survivors include: his wife, Marcella Rivera of Pecos; two sons,Salvador Rivera, Jr., and wife, Marie, of Dimmitt, and Rudy Rivera and wife, Rhonda, of Portales, NM; one daughter, Elsie Colon and husband, Carlos, of Lubbock; six brothers, Rudy Rivera of Post, Gilbert Rivera of Ralls, Albert Rivera of Ralls, Victor Rivera of Howe, Guy Rivera of El Paso, Roy Rivera of Longview; three sisters, Mary Rodriguez of San Angelo, Janie Reyna of Mesquite, Sandra Rivera of Albuquerque; two grandchildren; and a great granddaughter.
