Teresia RhewTeresia "Pat" Rhew passed away peacefully from this life in the early morning of May 20, 2011 at the age of 83. She was born to Harold and Anne (Harrison) Wimpress in Thrapston, England on June 29, 1927. Following WWII in June of 1946, she traveled to America on the Queen Mary with her 6 month old son Barry. She settled in Ralls, Texas and worked for the telephone company. On July 4th, 1947, she met the true love of her life Jack Rhew in Lorenzo. They were married on February 6, 1948 in Idalou, Texas. Pat, as she was known to all her friends, and Jack lived in Lorenzo for most of their 63 years of marriage. While Jack worked for International Harvester, Pat stayed home and raised their family. She was always a loving wife and mother and very devoted to Jack and her children. As her children grew older, she began a part-time job as librarian of the Lorenzo Library and later began to work part-time for the Lorenzo Post Office. In 1972 she went to work for the Lubbock Post Office where she remained until her retirement in December of 1991.

She was a most courageous and independent woman as she didn't get to return to England for a visit until 1967 when she and her two daughters traveled there to meet her side of the family for the very first time. Luckily, Jack and Pat were able to make several more trips to visit her relatives in England in their later years of marriage.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband Jack on March 16, 2011, her parents, three brothers; Ken Wimpress and his wife Phyllis, Harold Wimpress, and Walt Wimpress and his wife Marie. She is survived by a sister Phyllis Peacock of Kettering, England, a son Barry Rhew and his wife Carolyn of Harker Heights; two daughters, Karen Elliott and her husband Gene of Lewisville and Jana McCallister and her husband Randy of Post. She is also survived by the joys of her life: her six grandchildren; Toni Craig and husband John, Todd Rhew and wife Keesha, Leslie Hipp and husband Adam, Sam Elliott and wife Nicole, Matt McCallister and wife Rebecca, and Mark McCallister and fiance Andrea Lambert; three great-grandchildren, Kelly, Trenton, and Madison; and one great-great grand, Kadin as well as many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2011 at Lorenzo First United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Boren and Rev. Cam Givan officiating. Viewing and visitation will be at the church from 2:00 p.m. until service time on Monday. Burial will follow the service in the Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.

Our loving mom will be missed by us all and we her family wish to thank the staff of Accolade Hospice and Cottage Village for their loving care during her last days. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lorenzo First United Methodist Church, Accolade Hospice, the Alzheimer's Association, or a charity of your choice.
