In Remembrance of

Jesse Reyes

Rose Spray

Jesse ReyesJesus "Jesse" Eusebio Reyes Sr, 77, went into eternal life on April 15, 2012. He was surrounded by his loving family as the Lord released him from his earthbound body. He was born in Gause, Texas on February 25, 1935 to Daniel and Maria O.P. Reyes.

He grew up near Maysfield, Texas where he fished and swam with his siblings and friends in the Brazos River. He attended Yoe High School in Cameron, Texas. On October 5, 1957, he married the love of his life, Angie Reyes in Bryan Texas, and they moved to Ralls, where they lived for the past 54 years. His passion was tending God's backyard as a cotton farmer for the majority of his life. Each season, he relished preparing the land for that season's crop; straight rows, clean fields, his favorite tractor and just enough seed. With each crop, he renewed his love of farming, even with its labors and trials. His face beamed with pride when he talked about each year's cotton harvest. With his gift of cultivating the land also came the gift of cultivating community. During his lifetime, he was a founding member of St. Michaels Catholic Church of Ralls Texas. He served as Boy Scout Leader, and taught Sunday school for several years. He loved his family and friends, and delighted in cooking his delicious mouth-watering brisket for his family gatherings. He loved playing guitar for his family, and in his younger days played in a conjunto band with friends. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his patient nature, his integrity, his work ethic, and his loving devotion to his family.

He was preceded in death by his father Daniel Reyes, mother Maria O.P. Reyes, brothers Manuel De la Rosa, Pedro De La Rosa, sisters Carlota Herrera and Guadalupe Salas, and Daughter-in-Law, Larenda Gore Reyes.

He is survived by his precious wife of 54 years Angie, and his devoted sister Irene Cruz and husband Mike, of Tulia and his dear brother in law, Fidencio Salas, and wife Rosa. Also surviving are his son, Jesse Reyes Jr. and his wife Myrene of Summit NJ, daughter Ginny Moreno and husband Johnny of Gatesville, daughter Bekki Reyes-Germany and husband Ronnie of Lubbock, and son, Danny Reyes and wife Yolanda of Ft. Worth. He also embraced as his family Jimmie Exline, and wife Kathi, and their children Keri Grace and Mia from Seminole. Also left to cherish "Papaw's" memory are his grandchildren, Chris, Shara and husband Riley, Micaela, John Austin, Amanda, Larenda, Isabel, and Joshua, and great grandchildren, Harli and Haylen. Jesse also cherished his all beautiful nieces and loving nephews. They each brought him great joy and they filled his heart with pride. To his nieces Ylanda Pena, Rosa Pena, Frances Navarro and family, Martha Biera and family, and Eric Ordaz and family he was considered as a father and grandfather figure. His little dog Pinocchio was a great comfort to him in the last months of his battle with cancer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be donated to St. Michaels Catholic Church of Ralls, Tx.
