Rude Reese

A Crosbyton native with a number of relatives in this area died early Tuesday morning of last week from injuries suffered the previous night in a traffic accident near Lingo, NM. He succumbed in a Lubbock hospital.

Rude F. Reese, 29, was injured about 9:30 p.m. Monday, July 28, when the flatbed truck he was driving overturned. The accident occurred about two miles south of Lingo, NM.

The injured man, a Levelland resident, was taken to a Morton hospital before being transferred to Lubbock.

Reese, who was riding alone, was thrown from the truck.

Memorial services for the accident victim were conducted at 4 p.m. last Wednesday in the First Baptist Church of Ralls. Dr. Billy Burke, pastor, officiated and was assisted by the Rev. Dale Cain, minister of Calvary Baptist Church in Lubbock.

Burial was made in Ralls Cemetery. Carter-Adams Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Mr. Reese was born in Crosbyton and was reared in Ralls.

He was employed in Levelland as a welder for the Verna Drilling Co.

Survivors include one son, Michael Todd Reese, and a daughter, Amy Lynn Reese, both of Andrews; his father, Cecil Reese of Ralls; his mother, Nadene Reese of Lubbock; a brother, Rodney Reese of Seminole; and his grandmother, Ruby Pinkston of Ralls.

He was a nephew of John Pinkston.
