Emory Ralls

Emory, son of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Ralls, volunteered for service in the Second World War. He trained with the 36th Division in Brownwood, Texas, and was sent to Florida later. While there he was transferred to the Air Corps.

After completing his training, he was stationed in England. He served as pilot of both B17 and B24's and made thirty missions. He served with distinction and was promoted to captain. He was in service five years.

After the close of the war, Emory Ralls married. He and his wife, Doris, have a little girl and a son.

Obituary

U.S.Flag Emory G. Ralls, 52, of Arlington, a member of a pioneer family of Crosby County, was killed Wednesday in a hunting accident near Walnut Springs in Bosque County.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday in Ralls First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Vernon O'Kelly, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.

A native of Ralls, he was in the real estate and construction business in Arlington, and had moved from Crosby County in 1959. He had been active in many community projects in Ralls and was a past director of the Ralls Junior Chamber of Commerce. He served as a pilot in the United States Air Force during World War II. He moved to Arlington in 1969 from Tyler.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva, Arlington; a son, Scott Ralls of Tyler; 2 stepsons, Ray Hiller and Bruce Hiller, both of Arlington; a daughter, Mrs. Jim Hester of 3605 60th St. Lubbock; a stepdaughter, Terri Hiller of Arlington; his mother, Mrs. P.B. Ralls of Ralls; two brothers, Raymond Ralls of Ralls and Herbert Ralls of Fort Worth; two sisters, Mrs. W. W. Watkins and Mrs. C.B. Hendricks, both of Ralls; and two grandchildren, Adam Hester and Erick Ralls.

He was born in Ralls Dec. 24, 1919.
