Launa Ragle
Rose Spray
Mrs. Launa Ragle of Ralls, who along with her husband W.E. Ragle was saluted as honor pioneer couple at the 48th annual West Texas Pioneers and Old Settlers Reunion in 1973, was claimed by death last Friday night in Highland Hospital, Lubbock, after a brief illness. She was 92.

Mr. and Mrs. Ragle was spotlighted for their "pioneering spirit" since moving to this young county in 1907 while receiving the pioneer honor. Roy Terrell of Lorenzo referred to the couple as "the best people in the world."

Memorial services for Mrs. Ragle were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Ralls First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dick Richards, pastor, and the Rev. Sam Estes Jr., pastor of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lubbock, officiating.

Interment was made in Ralls Cemetery.

The former Launa Parchman was a native of Lamar County. She was married to W.E. Ragle Nov. 26, 1904 in Olney.

The young couple decided to go to the plains of West Texas and prospect for good farm land. They settled on 212 acres belonging to J.R. Mahaffy, six miles southwest of Emma.

"They braved the adversities of early frontier life and enjoyed the neighborliness which has made West Texas strong," friends point out.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. R. H. Huddleston of Ralls and Mrs. H.M. Reed of Lubbock; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
