L.M. Powell Jr.

U.S.Flag L.M. Powell Jr., a 56 year old Ralls farmer, was claimed by death at 9 p.m. Monday in St. Mary's Hospital in Lubbock. He had been a Ralls area resident since 1947.

Memorial services were conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Primitive Baptist Church in Crosbyton. Elder L. M. Handley of Crosbyton and Elder M. Handley of Crosbyton and Elder Afton Richards of Ralls officiated.

Interment was made in Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Born May 25, 1923 in Farmersville, Mr. Powell was married to the former Dorothy Kenney on Dec. 28, 1947 in Crosbyton. He moved to the Ralls area in 1947 from Lubbock. He previously resided in Floydada.

Powell served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; one daughter, Mrs. Norma (Wesley) Edwards of Ralls; three brothers, Henry Powell of Garland, Byron Powell of Ralls, and Hersel Powell of Lubbock; three sisters, Mrs. Maxine Bass of Lubbock, Mrs. Queen Annie Lawson of Floydada, and Mrs. Gladys Herman of Muleshoe; and two grandchildren, Michael and Aimee Edwards.
