Services for Olan Poteet, 85, of Lockney were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 1996, in the Lockney First Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Abney, pastor, officiating.
Burial followed in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Mr. Poteet died at 8 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 1996, following an illness.
He was born May 22, 1911, in Estelline, TX, and married Georgia Christine Fuller Dec. 24, 1931, in Ralls. She preceded him in death on Oct. 4, 1993. He was a member of the Lockney First Baptist Church.
He was a Peace Officer from June 7, 1947, retiring in 1991, serving as Floyd County Chief deputy and in Lockney as a constable, night watchman and City Marshall. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, where he served as a past Grand Master. He attended schools in Starkey Community.
Survivors include two sons, Layne Poteet and Dwayne Poteet both of Austin; two daughters, Pat Turner of Shreveport, LA, and Beverly Willson of Abernathy; one brother, Odell Poteet of Lubbock; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
