Services for J. L. Phipps, 93, of Crosbyton, formerly of Ralls and Muleshoe, will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, June 28, 2010 at the Ralls First United Methodist Church with Elder Tom Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
J. L. passed away at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock Saturday, June 26, 2010. He was born December 18, 1916 in Wellington, Texas. He married Mary D. Reynolds December 10, 1938 in Clovis, New Mexico. J. L. and Mary moved to the Ralls area in 1997 from Muleshoe where he had farmed for many years. A deacon in the Primitive Baptist Church for many years, J. L was currently a member of the Crosbyton Primitive Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, Clark Phipps and Hal Phipps and a son-in-law, Fred Owen. Survivors include four daughters, Ann Kendrick of Hugo, Oklahoma, Sue Moore of Mineral Wells, Donna Owen of Lorenzo and Gail Brangaugh of Highland Village, two brothers, Glenn Phipps of Columbus, Texas and Norman Phipps of Lewisville, four sisters, Catherine Kelso of Oceanside, Ca., Dorothy Hilderbrand of Peaco Rivera, Ca., Beth Watson of Littlefield and Margie Richuber of Corpus Christi. Also surviving are his 12 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.

Mary D. Phipps, 91, passed this life Jan. 31, 2012, at Grace Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. She resided at Reeves Rhodes Terrace in Crosbyton. She was born March 11, 1920, in Goldthwaite, Texas, to John C. and Martha Reynolds.
On Dec. 10, 1938, she married J.L. Phipps of Stegall, Texas. He preceded her in death June 26, 2010.
Her life was spent in devotion to her family. She was an accomplished seamstress, musician and singer, and author of many poems.
She is survived by four daughters, Ann Kendrick of Ft. Townson, Okla., Sue Moore of Mineral Wells, Donna Owen of Lorenzo and Gail Branaugh of Highland Village; 12 grandchildren; over 50 great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
Donations may be made to Hospice of Lubbock or Crosbyton Primitive Baptist Church.
