Services for Aubrey D. "Buddy" Payne, 71, of Idalou were at 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 19, 2006 at the Idalou Church of Christ with John Reeves and Travis Sursa officiating. Burial followed in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Buddy passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at University Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born September 7, 1935 in Ralls, Texas to the late J. W. and Tina Maude (Sursa) Payne. On August 16, 1963 he married Norma Archer in Lubbock.
He was a member of the Idalou Church of Christ and had served as an elder at the Emma Church of Christ in Ralls. He moved to Idalou in 1999 from Ralls where he had lived all his life. He was a farmer and a veteran of the US Army where he was stationed in Germany.
Survivors include his wife; Norma of Idalou, two sons and their wives; Jeff and Kristi Payne of Idalou, Lloyd and Suzanne Payne of Lubbock, two sisters and their husbands; Peggy and Donald Aycock of Lorenzo, Rita and Gary Bodensteiner of Clarksville, TN, and three grandchildren; Jordan, Riley and Lauren.
Serving as pallbearers were Michael Harkins, Carson Grizzard, Brad Aycock, Brian Aycock, Scott Wallace , Doug Archer and Paul Lee.
