Services for Donald Ray Nunley, 56, of Ralls were held at 10:00 AM, Friday August 13, 2004 at the Ralls First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Sanders and Rev. Larry Carson officiating. Burial will be in the Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls. He died Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at his home in Ralls.
He was born on July 2, 1948 in Ralls to Johnnie and Carolyn Little Nunley. He graduated from Ralls High School in 1966. He married Pat Harrell on July 5, 1969 in Ralls. He was a member of the Ralls First Baptist Church.
Don was an active member of the Ralls Lions for 24 years. He represented Ralls at Lions District conferences and maintained the grounds at the Ralls Lions meeting house. He served as Rodeo chairman for six years and was Rodeo boss for 14 years. He was currently serving as secretary/treasurer of the Lions Club. He also assisted with Junior Rodeo, High School and Tri State Rodeo and with Little Britches.
Don was a member of the Crosby County Livestock Association for thirty two years and served as Steer Superintendent for many years. He assisted with auctions for the past fifteen years. He helped with 4-H playdays and was an honorary member of the FFA. He also coached Little Dribblers basketball. Don served as President of the Ralls Ex-Students association. He also served as Master of Ceremonies for the Crosby County Fair, the Cotton Boll Fest and Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture Banquet for many years. In 2003 Don and Pat were honored as Chamber of Commerce Citizens Through The Years.
Don is survived by his wife Pat, two daughters and their husbands; April and Geoff Gray of Seminole, Lesli and Breech Nolen of San Angelo, his mother; Carolyn Nunley of Ralls, a brother and his wife Sammy and Nadine Nunley of Maypearl, Texas, a sister and her husband; Linda and Mike Stevens of Lubbock, four grandchildren; Keldon and Kaighan Gray and Ashley and Skylar Nolen.
Pallbearers will be; Davey Abell, Jody Ogle, Jess Stone, Don Boydstun, Dwight Roye, and Norman Roye. The Ralls Lions Club will serve as honorary Pallbearers. The family suggests memorials to VistaCare, 1010 Slide Road, Lubbock, Texas 79416
