Mass for Alfonso Mendez, 75, of Ralls was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 3, 1990 in St. Michael's Catholic Church with the Rev. Tom Parampil, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home.

He died at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 1990 in Lubbock's Methodist Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Yorktown and moved to Ralls in 1955. He married Eloise Garza on March 2, 1945, in Big Spring. She died in 1979. He was a farmer and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Survivors include nine sons, Lionisio, Manuel and Martin, all of Ralls, Frank, Jimmy, Phillip and Ruben, all of Lubbock, Alfonso Jr. of Killeen and Ernest of Amarillo; three daughters, Juanita Agudo of Killeen, Isabell Perez of Dallas and Anita Martinez of Fort Stockton; two brothers, Rafeal Mendez Sr., of Nixon, TX; Valentine Albert Mendez of Smiley, TX and a sister, Juanita Flores of Sugar Land, TX; 28 grandchildren and a great grandchild.

Grandsons were pallbearers.
