Rites Read For Mrs. Irene Melton In Ralls Monday

Funeral rites for Mrs. Irene Mae Melton, 80, of Ralls were held at 4 p.m. Monday in Emma Church of Christ in Ralls. Mrs. Melton died about 4 p.m. Saturday in the Crosbyton hospital after a lengthy illness.

Jerry Hestand, minister, and James Eubanks, retired minister, officiated. Burial was in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Carter Funeral Home.

A native of Red River County, Mrs. Melton had been a resident of this area since 1917 when she moved to Crosby County from Altus, Okla.

She is survived by her husband, E. R.; three sons, Cecil and Junior, both of Ralls, and E. R. of Plainview; six daughters, Mrs. Thomas Waller of Lubbock, Mrs. Henry Vinyard of Seminole, Mrs. Robert Waller of Salinas, Calif., Mrs. Bobby McHam of Levelland, Mrs. Raymond Chance of Ralls and Mrs. James Houchin of Petersburg; two sisters, Mrs. Ben Vernon of Lubbock and Ms. Emma Bromley of Garden City, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Grandsons served pallbearers.
