Pearle McLaughlin

A long time Crosby County resident and member of a pioneer family was claimed by death at 10:30 a.m. Thursday following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Pearle Travis McLaughlin succumbed in Medical Center Hospital in Lubbock.

Memorial rites were conducted at 4 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church of Ralls. The Rev. Vernon O'Kelly, pastor, officiated and was assisted by the Rev.Dale Cain, pastor of Ralls First Baptist Church, and Creed Mullins, minister of Emma Church of Christ.

Interment was made in Ralls Cemetery.

Mrs. McLaughlin was 80.

The former Pearle Travis was born in Bell County but came to this county with her pioneer family as a girl. She attended the former Emma School and was graduated in 1914 from West Texas State University.

She and J. Edd McLaughlin were united in marriage in 1916. Mrs. McLaughlin became acquainted with persons across the nation while her husband served as president of Rotary Internation in 1960-61. He is president of the Security State Bank and Trust Co. in Ralls.

In addition to Mr. McLaughlin, the deceased is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
