Lillian McLane PhotoLillian Helen Earp McLane, 92, of Ralls, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 28, 2004 at 11:45 a.m. at the home of her daughter in Lubbock. She is the daughter of George Dervin and Mary Lee Jernigan Earp.

She was born on March 5, 1912 in Beechgrove, Coffee County, Tennessee. She was the fifth of eight children (Alton Jackson, Jimmie Sue, Lula Pearl, Bryant Starnes, Willie Matthew, Ora Whysong and Lydia Ruth. She is survived by Lydia Ruth of Lubbock.

The family was engaged in farming in Coffee County and also had a mercantile store in Nashville, Tenn.

They moved to Wise County, Texas in September of 1920 then to Crosby County in December of 1928.

While attending school she enjoyed painting in oils, was an excellent seamstress, and a terrific guard on her school's basketball team. She was the beloved wife of the late Clyde McLane who passed on September 14, 1954.

She and Clyde were married on May 24, 1931 at the Baptist Church in Cone, Texas by the Rev. Denton.

She was the loving mother of Clyde McLane, Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA., Ruth Vallee Reese of Crosby County, TX, William Delano McLane of Waxachachie, TX and Sonie Mae Pinkert of Lubbock. She was the grandmother of nine children, great grandmother of five children and great great grandmother of one child.

She has been a member of the Ralls First Baptist Church over 70 years. The family received friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Adams Funeral Home. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at the Ralls First Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Bevel, officiating. Burial will follow in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
