U.S.Flag Services for Melvin McGaugh, 85, of Ralls were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at Emma Church of Christ in Ralls with Ken Free officiating.

Burial was in Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

He died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

He was born Nov. 25, 1916, in Petersburg. He married Cora Inez Hill on Nov. 27, 1937, in Stephenville, TX.

He was a member of the Ralls Rotary Club, charter member of the Ralls Lions Club and a member of the Texas Automobile Dealers Association. He owned and operated McGaugh Motors in Ralls for many years. He finished high school in Plainview and attended business college. He moved to Ralls in 1945 from Plainview. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Cora of Ralls; one son, Houston McGaugh of College Station; two daughters, Linda Shelby of Baytown and Barbara Grogan of Amarillo; two brothers, J.D. McGaugh and J.R. McGaugh, both of Waldron, Ark.; two sisters, Ruth Calahan of Austin and Louise Poppel of Augusta, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Lubbock Children´s Home, 4404 Idalou Highway, Lubbock, TX 79403.
