RETIRED SANTA FE EMPLYEE IS BURIED IN RALLS

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Ralls at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, January 26, for Joe E. McCauley, 68, with Rev. C.R. Payne officiating, assisted by Rev. G.E. Williams, pastor of the Assembly of God church.

Piano music was furnished by Mary Bledsoe, "Does Jesus Care?" "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," and "Rock of Ages" were sung by the choir.

Rev. Payne read by request a scripture passage from the 14th chapter of John. He and Rev. Williams paid tribute to Mr. McCauley a sincere, humble man, who lived an exemplary, quiet Christian life , ever being true, faithful, and happy.

He had been a member of the Baptist church for 32 years but for several years had been unable to attend.

He died at his home in Ralls of a heart attack Wednesday, January 23rd, at 11:00 pm. He hadn't been feeling well for several days but had not been confined to bed. He had visited with friends on the streets Saturday.

Mr McCauley was a life long Texan, having been born at Center, Texas, July 10, 1877, where he resided until 25 years ago, when he moved with his family to Crosby County. They resided in Crosbyton for nine years, having moved to Ralls 16 years ago. He retired on his birthday, July 10, 1942, after serving the Santa Fe Railroad for 22 years. He still continued to lead an active life until his death.

He was married at Center, Texas on December 23, 1898, to Miss Jennie Walker. To them were born five children, two of them having preceeded him in death. Survivors are the widow, two sons, Phillip McCauley of Plainview and Marshall McCauley of Ralls; one daughter, Mrs L.W. Smith of Porterville, California, 11 grandchildren and 3 sisters, Mrs. Mollie Honeycutt, Mrs. Dezzie Owens, and Mrs. Lula Fossit, all of Center.

Pallbearers were: John Jones, Bill Smith, Guy Surratt, Otho Reed , O.B. Thompson, and Henry Reed. Marr Funeral Home was in charge and burial was in Ralls Cemetery.

RALLS SERVICES SET FOR MRS McCAULEY

RALLS (Special) — Mrs. Rody Jane McCauley, 74, died at her residence here this afternoon. She had been in ill health for a number of years.

Mrs. McCauley was a longtime resident of Ralls. Her husband, who proceeded her in death in 1946, had been a railroad employee here for many years.

Funeral services have been tentatively set for 4 pm Saturday at Ralls First Baptist Church, pending arrival of a son, O.(tis) M.(arshall ) McCauley of Ralls, who has been away on a trip.

Officiating at the services will be the Rev. James Abernathy, pastor. Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under direction of the Marr-Carter Funeral Home, Ralls.

Mrs. McCauley is also survived by another son, J.(ames)P.(hillip) McCauley of Plainview; a daughter, Mrs Fannie Smith of Ralls; a brother, Jim W. Walker of Center; a sister, Mrs. Gate McCauley of Channelview; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
