Funeral rites for Walter Lynch of Ralls, a South Plains resident for almost 60 years, were at 4 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church of Ralls. The Rev. Lee Fuller, pastor, officiate.
Interment was made in Ralls Cemetery, under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Mr. Lynch was 85. He died at 3 p.m. Friday in St. Mary of the Plains Hospital in Lubbock after a lengthy illness.
A Salado native, Mr. Lynch moved to the South Plains in 1923. He was married to Lorene Garner on Sept. 26, 1926, in Ralls, where the family resided many years.
A Baptist, Mr. Lynch was a retired farmer and real estate agent.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bart Lynch of Crosbyton and Monroe Lynch of Lubbock; four daughters, Lurdean (Tincy) White of Fritch, Betty Mackey of Bronte, Linda Hopper of Lubbock and Carolyn Sessom of Ralls; two brothers, Emmitt Lynch of Ralls and Howard Lynch of Brownwood; two sisters, Jean Wells of Salado and Lynn Schoepf of Gainesville; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Another son, Lloyd Lynch, preceded his father in death in 1978.

RALLS (Special) Services for Lorene Lynch, 90, of Ralls will be at 4:30 p.m. today at Ralls First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Morrow officiating.
Burial will follow in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Mrs. Lynch died Thursday, March 16, 1995, at Plainview Methodist Hospital.
She was born Aug. 4, 1904, in Mt. Vernon. She married Walter Barton Lynch on Sept. 30, 1926, in Ralls. He died July 16, 1982.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Ralls First Baptist Church and the TEL Sunday school class. She lived most of her life in Ralls.
Survivors include two sons, Bart Lynch of Plainview and Monroe Lynch of Lubbock; three daughters, Betty Mackey of Bronte, Linda Dear of Harlingen and Carolyn Sessom of Ralls; one brother, Robert Garner of Sulphur Springs; two sisters, Nina Jordon of Sulphur Springs and Louella Kinney of Amarillo; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Loyd Lynch, and a daughter, Laurdean Patterson White.
The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
