Funeral services for former Ralls mayor Tim D. Lyle, 84, of Ralls were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church of Ralls with the Rev. David Ray, pastor, officiating and the Rev. H.B. Coggin assisting.

Burial was in Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

The former mayor and city commissioner died at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital after a lengthy illness.

The Zion, Miss., native married Alma Acker on August 28, 1928 in Lubbock. He was a retired farmer, having attended Mississippi A&M. His family moved from Mississippi to Old Emma in 1916.

A Methodist, he was a former Sunday School superintendent, a trustee and chairman of the building committee of First United Methodist Church of Ralls.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge, where he was worshipful master for a year. He joined the Rotary Club in 1937 and was its 15th president, holding a perfect attendance record for 36 years. During World War II he served on the Crosby County rationing board.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Bill of Ralls; a brother, Thomas G. of Lubbock; a sister, Ella Mae McCorkle of Lubbock; and two grandchildren.
