Louisa Lecompte
Rose Spray
Louisa Lecompte Louisa Greenlee was born on 5 May 1859 in Arkansas to William Pinkney Greenlee [b.Ark.] and Sarah Blanchard [Wm and Sarah married in Union Co., AR]. Louisa died on 13 Oct 1943 in Ralls, Texas and was buried in Ralls.

She was married Feb 4, 1875 in San Saba Co., TX to Samuel Wesley Ketchum who was born on 4 Jan 1854 in Caldwell Co, Texas.

Louisa left Samuel when the children were quite young. It was said that Samuel was away from home all the time working cattle ranches in the panhandle, and that living alone with two small kids was too much of a burden on a single woman. At some later time she met and married Mister Lecompte. Her two children, and his children by his first marriage, were raised by the two of them (Louisa and Louis? Lecompte). There were some bad stories from my grandfather about how Lecompte treated him and his sister (his two step children). Lecompte commited suicide after falling from a horse and is buried somewhere in New Mexico, perhaps Melrose where he last held residence.

Louisa's first husband Samuel (my great grandfather) later beame an outlaw in a gang with his brother Thomas Edward "Black Jack" Ketchum, and three or four other men. Samuel was shot and killed by a posse 24 Jul 1899 in New Mexico Territory. Samuel was buried in Oddfellows Cemetery-Santa Fe, NM, Thomas Edward was shot, captured, hung and is buried in Clayton, NM.

Two of Louisa Greenlee's sisters married into the Till family. Bill Till married Duke Greenlee and Thomas Jefferson Till married Berneice Greenlee.
