Services for Melba Joiner, 65, of Ralls were held Thursday, Sept.10, 1998, in Ralls First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Hubbard, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.

She died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, at Methodist Hospital.

Joiner was born on April 22, 1933, in Motley County.

She married Murry Joiner on June 12, 1988, in Ralls.

She was preceded in death by a husband, Harold Verett. They were married on April 12, 1956, in Cone. He died Jan. 17, 1974.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ralls. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She moved to Crosby County in 1956 from Motley County. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Murry Joiner of Ralls; a son, Shawn Verett of Lubbock; a daughter, LaDean Verett of Ralls; a stepson, Bart Joiner of Louisville, KY; three stepdaughters, Debbie Peacock of Midland, Kathy Cardona of Loveland, Ohio; and Jan Cowan of Canyon; a brother Guy Kimball of Amarillo; two sisters, Avis Billingsley of Claremore, OK, and Isabell Gambrell of Forsan; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
