RALLS (Special) Memorial services for Ernest Victor Joiner, 87, of Carrizoza, N.M., will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ralls First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Hubbard officiating.

He died Nov. 9, 1998, in Albuquerque, N.M.

He was born Aug. 20, 1911, in Sherman.

Survivors include Cecilia Kuhnel of Carrizozo; and two daughters, Carol Joiner of Albuquerque and Vicki McNair of Edison, Ga.

Memorial services set for Ernest Joiner

Legendary Ralls Banner newspaper editor and publisher Ernest Joiner is coming home to Ralls. Joiner died at age 87 in 1998 in Albuquerque, NM, but his remains are now being returned for burial in Ralls, according to Adams Funeral Home which is handling the arrangements. Joiner gained international fame for the Banner and his colorful, iconoclastic accounts of local doings and personalities from 1945 to 1960. After leaving Ralls, Joiner owned and edited newspapers in California, Oregon and New Mexico. Memorial services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, at the Ralls First United Mehtodist Church with the Rev. Gary Hubbard officiating. He is, survived by Cecillia Kuhnel of Carrizoz, NM, and his two daughters, Carol Joiner of Albuquerque and Vicki McNair of Edison, GA.
