Graveside services for Porter James, 80, of Ralls were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 1988, in Ralls Cemetery with Dennis May, minister of Emma Church of Christ, officiating.

Burial was under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home.

He died at 8:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 1988, in Ralls Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Paris and moved to Ralls in 1974 from Lubbock. He married Lucy Verett on Dec. 21, 1929, in Ralls. He was a grocer and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sandra Shirley of Mabank and Carol Fenley of Amarillo; three sisters, Lois Huff of Lubbock, and Mary Poteet and Eunice Tomme, both of Ralls; and five grandchildren.
