Jelora JamesJelora Emogene James, 92, (Dodie to her family) was born November 28, 1913 in Paris, Lamar County, Texas, to W. O. and Clara Holcomb Wheeler. She passed away on December 23, 2005 at the Ralls Nursing Home.

The family moved to the Cone community in 1919. She attended Cone School and graduated from Ralls High School. Jelora was on the girls basketball team and loved sports. She was a member of the Cone-Ralls First Baptist Church. Jelora loved singing and listening to gospel music. She married Daniel Floyd James on October 5, 1940 in Floydada, Texas. They resided and farmed in the Cone community until their retirement and then moved to Ralls. Jelora is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and their wives; Paul and Wilma Wheeler, and Silas and Margaret Wheeler and one sister and her husband; Margie and Dennis Harmon.

Survivors are nieces and nephews; Dr. Joe Wheeler, Bill Wheeler, Jeanette Wilson, Oren Harmon, Jelora Coldiron, Karen Allen, Sandra Roye and Ruth McMillan, sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Margie and Edmond Crump, and several great nieces and great nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Ralls Nursing Home for their loving care and support of Jelora for the past several years. Memorials to Ralls First Baptist Church or the Ralls Nursing Home would be appreciated.

Services were at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at Adams Funeral Home in Ralls with the Rev. Ken Bevel officiating. Burial followed in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
