Harvey Harlin Hunter, 68, of Ralls died Saturday, July 19, 2003, in the Ralls Nursing Home where he had spent a short time, following a battle of cancer.

Graveside services were held in the Ralls Cemetery at 2 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2003, with Wade Hunter and Tommy Williamson, minister of the Wink Church of Christ, Wink, TX, officiating.

Chosen songs, "Life´s Railway to Heaven," "Amazing Grace," "Precious Memories," were sung at Harlin´s request by Tommy & Margie Williamson, of Pecos, Kenneth Williamson of Amarillo, Mark Williamson of Katy, Matthew Williamson of Pecos and Mace Williamson of College Station. Tommy closed the memorial to Harlin with the singing of "Beautiful Memories Walking Me Home," his own composition that Harlin particularly enjoyed.

Harlin was born on June 21, 1935, in Tulare, CA, to Walter Cleve Hunter and Ellen Dupree Hunter.

He married Glenda Eunabeth Williamson on Mar. 18, 1975 in Ralls. She preceded him in death on Aug. 25, 1992. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Louise Hamlin.

Harlin served in the United States Marine Corps and moved to Ralls in 1970 from Arizona. He had been an aircraft mechanic and later worked as a mechanical repairman in Lubbock for many years.

He was an avid gardner, enjoyed tilling and working the soil, and growing a garden, grapes, other fruit, and flowers. As a young man, in his teenage years in California, he learned farming and tractor driving early on and continued that interest throughout his life. He also enjoyed fishing, music, playing guitar, and the Williamson family singing and music gatherings.

Harvey Harlin Hunter is survived by one son, Walter Cleve Hunter of LaQuinta, CA, one brother, Alfred Wade Hunter of Cisco, one stepbrother, Dell Miller of Ralls, and three grandchildren.
