RALLS (Special) - Services for Reuben H. Huddleston, 71, of Ralls will be at 4:30 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church of Ralls with the Rev. Howard Marcom, pastor, and the Rev. Sam Estes, pastor of Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Lubbock, officiating.
Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home.
Huddleston died at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday at Simkins Nursing Home in Lubbock after a lengthy illness.
He was born April 7, 1911 in Cottondale and married Eleanor Ragle on Dec. 22, 1938, in Ralls. He was a farmer. He moved to Ralls in 1942 from Lamesa. He graduated at Springtown High School in 1928 and attended Weatherford Junior College. He graduated at North Texas State University in Denton in 1935.
He taught school at Liberty School near Azle before becoming a teacher at Lamesa High School, where he also was a track coach. He was active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scout Troop 333. He was a former member of the Ralls school board and served on the board of stewards of First United Methodist Church of Ralls. He was a Mason and a member of Emma Lodge 931.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Lauren of Fort Worth; his mother, Mrs. Wade Hutcheson of Springtown; two brothers, Aldon and Waldon, both of Springtown; a sister, Mrs. Ray Gilliland of Springtown; and two grandchildren. A second son, Lynn Ragle, continues to be unaccounted for in Vietnam.
