Obituary

Grady Howard

Funeral services for Grady E. Howard of Graham were held Thursday, April 12th at the Morrison Funeral Chapel in Graham. Then the body was transferred to Carter Adams Funeral at 2 p.m. in the Ralls Cemetery with the Rev. Lee Fuller, pastor of Ralls First Baptist Church officiating.

He was born in Hale County, but moved to Crosby County in early life and lived here most of the time. He married Gladys Henry of Ralls in Lubbock May 28, 1941.

He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Howard. His father was a pioneer County Judge in Crosby County.

He is survived by his wife Gladys, a sister Mae Hill of Tahoka, a brother Van of Graham.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, and a World War II Veteran.

Graveside services for former Crosbytonite Grady E. Howard of Graham were at 2 p.m. Friday in the Ralls Cemetery (Ralls, TX). �The Rev. Lee Fuller, pastor of First Baptist Church in Ralls, officiated.

�Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 12, in the Morrison Funeral Home in Graham (TX). The Rev. Edgar Jones and the Rev. Roland Burch officiated.

�Mr. Howard, 76, was claimed by death in Palo Pinto Hospital in Mineral Wells (TX) on Tuesday, April 10, following surgery.

Born in Hale County (TX), Mr. Howard came to Crosby County (TX) at an early age and spent most of his life here. He was a son of Crosby County pioneers, the late Mr. and Mrs. B.H. Howard. �B.H. Howard was an early-day county judge.

�Grady Howard and the former Gladys Henry of Ralls were married May 28, 1941 in Lubbock (TX). Mrs. Howard was a teacher in the Crosbyton school system for a number of years. The couple moved to Graham in 1977.

�A disabled veteran of World War II, Mr. Howard served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a Methodist.

�Survivors include his wife, Gladys; one sister, Mae Hill of Tahoka (TX); one brother, Van Howard of Graham (TX) and several nieces and nephews.

GLADYS HOWARD SERVICES HELD

Graveside Services for Gladys Howard, age 88, of Lubbock were held today, April 26, 2001 at Ralls Cemetery with Rev. Floyd Haddock officiating.

Burial was under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

She died Monday, April 24, 2001 at Wedgewood South in Lubbock. She was born August 16, 1912 in Hillsboro, TX. She married Grady Howard on May 31, 1941 in Lubbock, Texas. He died April 10, 1984.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lubbock and had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Graham, TX. She graduated from Texas Tech in 1937 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She taught school in Ralls, Lubbock, Crosbyton, Tahoka, Graham, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. She was also a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association and Delta kappa Gamma Sorority. She moved to Graham from Crosbyton in 1977 then to Lubbock in 1994.

Survivors include: 2 sisters : Zonelle Myers of Fritch, TX and Iris Maxine Thornton of Houston, TX; 17 nieces and nephews.
