Services for Connell Houston, 94, of Ralls is at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 2, 2006 at the Ralls First United Methodist Church with Leonard Harper and the Rev. Allen Brooks officiating. Burial is in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Connell was born on April 25, 1911 in Throckmorton, Texas to the late Johnny Moore and Martha Ethel (Barton) Chilcoat.
She married Homer Frank Houston in 1938 in Paducah, Texas. He preceded her in death on October 14, 1961.
She was a member of the Ralls First United Methodist Church and was a graduate of Texas Tech University. She taught at Delwin and Sagerton before moving to Ralls in 1948. In Ralls she taught from 1949 to her retirement in 1976. During her career she taught every grade except first grade. In the 1980's she was honored as Ralls Citizen Through The Years.
She is survived by; two sons; Jack Houston of Cincinnati, Ohio, Russell Houston and wife Patti of Lubbock, two daughters and their husbands; Karen and Dwain Upham of Plano, Jane and Stephen Kroh of Frederick, Maryland, a brother and his wife; John and Frances Chilcoat of Knox City, three sisters and their husbands; Dorothy and husband J. W. Thomason of Lubbock, Chrystal and Wendel Fanning of Amarillo, and Gaye and husband Daret Barclay of Napa Valley, CA, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
