Ernest Harris RALLS (Special) — Services for Ernest Lee Harris, 80, of Ralls will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Ron Colwell, pastor, and Jim Morrow, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial in Ralls Cemetery will be directed by Carter-Adams Funeral Home.

Harris died Thursday, March 24, 1994, in Methodist Hospital in Lubbock.

He was born on June 6, 1913, in Montague County and married Mildred Cook on Nov. 25, 1933, in Bronte. He moved in 1937 to Ralls, where he was a former member of the school board, a former director of Regional Co-op, an original stockholder of Owens Co-op Gin, a former member of Ralls Lions Club and a member of First Methodist Church.

He was a member of the Sheriff´s Associaton of Texas and was a Hampshire hog breeder and among the first breeders of Specific Pathogen Free hogs. He was a member of the national SPF association, and his hogs had been winners in many shows nationwide.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Bobby of Ralls; a daughter, Darla Shaw of Lubbock; a brother Thomas C. of Baton Rouge, La.; two sisters, Mertie Mae Harrington of Arlington and Della Johnson of Roby; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Mildred HarrisServices for Mildred Harris, 97, of Lubbock, formerly of Ralls, will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, October 17, 2010 at the Ralls Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Ken Bevel officiating. Burial in the Ralls Cemetery is under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls. Mildred passed away Thursday morning, October 14, 2010 at her daughter's home in Lubbock.

One of eleven children, Mildred was born April 1, 1913 in May, Texas to the late Elmus Edward and Mary Elizabeth (Marler) Cook. On November 25, 1933 she married Ernest Harris in Bronte, Texas. He preceded her in death March 24, 1994. A resident of Ralls since 1937, Mildred moved to Lubbock in 2003.

A homemaker, she was an active member of the Ralls First United Methodist Church and was a 4-H and Girl Scout Troop Leader for 17 years. She was a loving mother to Darla and Bobby and will be greatly missed by her family.

She is preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Bobby and Sue Harris of Ralls, a daughter and her husband, Darla and Rick Shaw of Lubbock, six grandchildren, Debbie Sullivan of Ralls, Brad Harris of Princeton, Todd Shaw of Celina, Chad Harris of Ralls, Brandon Shaw of Longview, WA, and Dr. Aaron Shaw of Stephenville, nine great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters Pearl Thomasson of Portales, NM, and Wanda Faye Farmer of Plano. Serving as casket bearers will Todd Shaw, Brandon Shaw, Aaron Shaw, Debbie Sullivan, Brad Harris, Chad Harris, Dayan Davis, Dezni Hitt, Hayden Harris and Kara Harris.

The family wishes to thank Kristi Townsen and all of the girls of The Heartland House for the tender care of Mildred. We want to give a special thanks to Rita and Lisa who loved and cared for her until the Lord took her home.
