Graveside services for Velma Elizabeth Harrell, 87, of Ralls were held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 20, 1990, in the Ralls Cemetery with Rev. Russ Byard, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.Burial was under the direction of Carter Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Harrell died at her daughter´s residence in Lubbock, July 18, 1990, at 3:50 a.m., following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Sherman, Texas, February 5, 1903 and moved to Crosby County in the early 1920´s from Grayson County. She married Conde Harrell in Amarillo, December 24, 1928. Mrs. Harrell taught school for 43 years in Grayson County, Ralls, and New Home. She was a member of the Ralls First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Conde Harrell of Ralls; one daughter, La Jean Hughes of Lubbock; four brothers, A.E. Brown of San Angelo, C.E. Brown of Sinton, Ray Brown of Sherman and J.D. Brown of Dallas; three sisters, Ethel White of Plainview, Addrue Robertson of Sherman and Opie Scarborough of Dallas; three grandchildren, Dr. DeWayne Moore of Atlanta, GA., Pam Reed of Lubbock, Kelley Hughes of Odessa; and one great grandchild, David Lowrie of Lubbock.
