Sonny Grant Services for Norman "Sonny" Grant, 68, of Ralls will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 21, 2005 at the Ralls First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lee Fuller pastor of Wylie Baptist Church and and Rev. Larry Carson pastor of the Ralls First Baptist Church officiating . Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

He passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. Sonny was born on January 9, 1937 in Paducah, Texas to Noble "Pappy" and Letha "Big Mama" Grant. On June 22, 1957 he married Myrna Faye Taylor in Petersburg. He was a member of the Ralls First Baptist Church. For many years Sonny worked for Al Cooper Motor Company as an auto mechanic and service manager. He purchased Grant's Texaco in 1977 and later owned his own insurance business, Norman Grant Agency. As a diverse businessman, he sold cellular phones, satellite TV systems and installed auto glass.

Sonny's love was his guitar and making music with his friends. He spent most of his leisure time playing the guitar or teaching others to play. He introduced the guitar to two of his grandsons, Brooks and Jeremy and they have now developed that same love of playing guitar. He was a member of several local bands including the Triple C Express and most recently, Double Nickle Band. One summer, he accepted the opportunity of doing a show at Silver Dollar City in Missouri and did the Salt River Show with Ron Blakely. He loved to perform at the area "musicals" including the Meadow Musical and the Abernathy Jamboree. He never turned down an opportunity to perform and loved to dress up in "character" as Cowboy Roy, Grandpa jones and sometimes even Mable!

He is preceded in death by; his parents and a brother; Roger Grant.

He is survived by his family including his wife; Myrna of Ralls, two sons; Rick Grant and his wife Mardi of Abilene, Kerry Grant of San Angelo, a daughter, D'Ann Myatt and her husband Bill of Levelland, two sisters; Marie Barnett of Ralls and Mavis Walker of Lorenzo, seven grandchildren; Bridget Moore and her husband Cameron of Abilene, Brooks Grant and his wife, Kennah of Lubbock, J.D. Grant and Jeremy Grant of San Angelo, Lyndsie Myatt, Jake Myatt and Alex Myatt of Levelland one great grandson; Parker Grant Moore of Abilene.

Pallbearers will be; Hoppy Tolar, Howard Hopkins, Jacky Dewbre, Don Boland, Kenny Adams, L. T. Starkey and Steve Trowbridge.

The family suggests memorials to the National Kidney Foundation of West Texas 4601 50th St. Ste. 101 Lubbock, Texas 79414 C/O Lana Rolfe.
