Walter Gleaton

Former Ralls businessman Walter W. Gleaton, 87, died about 12:30 p.m. Monday in the Ralls Nursing Home. He had been a resident of the home since 1972.

Funeral rites for Mr. Gleaton were at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the First United Methodist Church in Ralls. The Rev. Howard Marcom, pastor, and the Rev. E. R. McGregory, a retired Methodist minister, officiated.

Burial was in Ralls Cemetery, under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home.

Walter W. Gleaton was born in Comanche County. He and the former Stella Frazier were married in 1916 in Hillsboro. The couple moved to Floydada in 1919 and to Ralls the following year.

Mr. Gleaton operated a feed and seed business in Ralls until 1951, when he moved to Hico. He returned to Ralls in 1972, the year his wife died.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ralls.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Roy Abell of Ralls and Mrs. Dene Rodgers of Independence, Miss.; a sister, Lillie Bartlett of Sweetwater; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
