Paul Ely, an 83-year-old Cone resident, was claimed by death at 7:15 p.m. Sunday at his home.Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Ralls First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Ray, pastor, officiating. He was assisted by Elder Joe Jackson of Cone.
Interment was in Ralls Cemetery.
A retired farmer, he moved to this county in 1937.
Mr. Ely was a former Crosby County commissioner and deputy sheriff. He was also active in the Caprock Girl Scout Camp Rio Blanco and was a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys; a daughter, Pauline Martin of Cone; two brothers; one sister; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

RALLS (Special) - Graveside services for Gladys Ely, 91, of Ralls will be at 11 a.m. today in Ralls Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Colwell, pastor of Ralls First United Methodist Church, officiating.Arrangements are under direction of Adams Funeral Home.
She died Sunday, Feb. 25, 1996, at Ralls Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 13, 1904, in Indian Territory, Okla. She married Paul Cleon Ely on Oct. 28, 1922, in Crowell. He died Jan. 6, 1985. She was a member of Ralls First United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She had lived in Crosbyton, moving to Crosby County from Ford County in 1937. She took care of the Girl Scout camp, Camp Rio Blanco, for five years.
She was a homemaker and a cook at the Cone School for nine years. She owned a cafe in Cone in the 1950´s. A daughter, Pauline Martin, died Aug. 18, 1989.
Survivors include two grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
